Shoplifters carry Nike shoes in retail
Jackson County Sheriff’s investigators are trying to identify two people who stole more than $1,000 worth of Nike shoes earlier this month from the Nike Outlet at the Tanger Outlets mall near Commerce.
The same pair appears to the same couple who stole nearly $2,000 worth of shoes on July 23 and August 2 from the same store, according to the report.
The most recent theft occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on December 14 when the man and woman loaded boxes of shoes into four mesh shopping bags and walked out the door, deputies said.
Deputies were unable to determine where the suspects left after leaving the store, but a store manager said that during the July robbery the suspects left in a black Nissan Sentra.
The couple were described as black with the man around 6ft 2in and 270lbs and wearing a Chicago Bulls baseball cap and red and white Nike Air Jordan shoes.
The woman is around 5ft 10in and 220lbs with a large build.
On the same day, deputies said someone entered the Christopher & Banks store and entered the employee break room between noon and 5 p.m. and stole an employee’s handbag containing cash, debit cards and many credit cards, according to the report.
The 49-year-old employee called her husband for help canceling the cards, but they discovered the cards had already been used for around $1,600 in purchases at the outlet, nearby Walmart and Greenville, in South Carolina, the deputies said.
