Tiger Woods explains why he swapped Nike shoes for Footjoy at Masters as he prepares for incredible comeback
TIGER WOODS insists his unique new companions won’t end his love affair with Nike.
The golfing legend wore Footjoys as he ‘as of now’ confirmed he would make an incredible return to the Masters, starting on Thursday.
He switched to ‘more stable’ shoes to battle ‘very limited mobility’ following horrific leg injuries sustained 14 months ago.
Both Nike and Woods believe their special relationship, unbroken since a £31m sponsorship deal in 1996, will resume.
But for now, he’s switched to the lesser-known Footjoy brand.
The 15-time Major winner, 46, told a press conference on Tuesday: “I have very limited mobility now with the rods, plates and screws in my leg.

“I needed something different that allowed me to be more stable and that’s what I went for.
“Nike has been fantastic over the years in providing me with gear.
“We have been working and trying to find something that can help me and hopefully we will have it soon.”
Before that, however, Woods hopes his return to Augusta can provide more than just a footnote to his incredible career.

The Californian will play a nine-take practice round on Wednesday to test if he’s in good enough shape to start the next day.
And when asked if he thought he could equal Jack Nicklaus’ record six Masters titles by winning this week, he said: “Yes.
“I only show up to an event if I think I can win it.”
Earlier, Nike had posted on social media: “Like golf fans everywhere, we are delighted to see Tiger back on the course.
“His story continues to transcend the sport. As he continues his comeback, we will work with him to meet his new needs.”
